Israel and the UAE agreed to full normalization of relations in a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Thursday, marking the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab country in 25 years.

Israel agreed to suspend its planned extension of sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria to facilitate relations with the UAE and potentially other Arab and Muslim countries, according to a statement posted to Trump’s Twitter account.

The announcement said that delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in the coming weeks, "to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit.

Arabs, Palestinians, Israel, UAE, Fatah, Muslim countries, Jews, Trump, USA, so many different factions, where to start, but it's a bit like the BBC reports on Lebanon that don't mention Hezbollah, they're missing the driving force behind what's happening. The Lefty assumption that the problem in the region is simply Arab v Jew is a nonsense, there are three main protagonist in the Middle East, it isn't simply Jew v Arab, there is also Sunni Muslim v Shia Muslim, and that's the driving force behind this agreement. The Sunni Muslim states like UAE and Saudi Arabia are as terrified as Israel about a Shia Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. They have the same security concerns as Israel, and are simply working together on the principle of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'. That's what this is about.

Israel and the UAE are both scared sh-itless of the Iranians, abandoning the Hamas controlled Palestinians is not a good idea – whatever the spin emanating from Trump in Washington, Nasty Netanyahu in Jerusalem or the Crown Prince in Abu Dhabi says otherwise.
