    National League 2020/21 betting

First odds I've seen for the coming season, Notts joint favourites with Stockport at 9/2. Too short to interest me.

I remember last time we were favourites to win our league, hope it's much better this time around.

Stockport is an interesting one. Have they spent some money pre-season?

Yes, they've gone full time and paid fees for two players already.

Waiting for Jonnyt1 to tell us all who IS going to win the league. After letting everyone know early that it won't be Notts

Come on Jonny don't be shy.

I would agree with jonny, I don't think Notts will win the league. If you asked me who will, I would say that it will be one of the other 23 teams. That's how my betting strategy works - the one in 24 chance of winning the league works out at a 4.2%. I would put our chance at around 15%, so 9/2 (an 18.2% chance) doesn't really appeal. If we go 6/1 or better I'll have a few quid on.

From an outsiders view I think it’s hard to see past Notts, best owners, set up, manager and squad when it’s finalised but it is Notts lol

From an insiders view, I'll address those points individually:

Best owners - definitely on what they've done so far.
Best set up - I don't know about the other clubs but I would be amazed if any have better.
Best manager - I'll have to pass on that one.
Best squad when it's finalised - as above, I don't know about the other clubs but I would be amazed if any have better.

We seem to hold all the aces with the added bonus of a £250,000 parachute payment, but as you say this is Notts!

There are too many uncontrollable variables during a season to predict with certainty that Notts (or Stockport for that matter) will win the league. What you can say is that we should have as much squad depth as anyone, and we will start this season much better prepared than last, so our chance of overcoming some of those intangibles is greater than other teams.

We should be certain for the play-off positions and if we're not then we're regressing, but the rest will come down to a bit of fortune as well as talent on the pitch or in the manager's office. We should certainly be aiming to win it though. There's nothing wrong with setting the bar high ... as long as you don't go ape sh*t if you hit a bump in the road, which can happen to any team. As ever it's also worth remembering it's all about where you finish the season, not how you start it.
