Was Chris Wood running ?
They were showing Jack Cork and Chris Wood at York this afternoon on ITV Racing, they had a horse Red Right Sand running in the 3.45. I wasn't bothered about the horse but what was worrying was seeing the surgical boot Jack was wearing, it came halfway up his calf. I'm no physio, but to my untrained eye it suggested that Jack must be a way off resuming training yet, never mind playing first team football. But what do I know, I could be wrong.

I backed a horse at 10 to 1. Came in at 20 past 3.!! He came in so late he had to tiptoe back to the stable !!!
Its gotten to the point now when I expect a player to be out for a season if they get any kind of breakage. Technically it shouldn't take that long this day and age, but it does for our players somehow.
Barnes was inured New Years day and over 8 months later is 'on the grass'. If he does get back before new year it will be gaining fitness and form which takes him a few months usually.
With an aging squad injuries are just going to keep coming, you can't defy the laws of biology.
I never knew professional athletes were "over the hill" at just over 30 years old.

Barnes had surgery for a hernia problem, however, I do not know how serious the problem was. Normally, these days, they perform the op with keyhole surgery, however, there is still the odd one which can't be done that way. Having had one by the latter method when I was playing, I was not allowed to do anything but light training for 6 months and this also included not being allowed to blow my instrument for 4 months. His recoverywill also have been hindered by Covid19 because he was unable to get back in the swing of things because his condition made him vulnerable, he said himself that he was missing the comradeship which always helps when you are coming back from injury
not being allowed to blow my instrument for 4 months
I've honestly never tried that, but I'll bet Alf has!
