    Welcome #5

O/S Crewe Alexandra are delighted to announce the signing of Donervon Daniels who has penned a two-year contract with the Club.

The Montserratian centre-half comes with a wealth of experience from various Championship and League One Club's, having left Luton Town this summer.

Donervon began his footballing career with Reading before making the move to West Brom where he was awarded a professional contract.

Despite signing a professional deal, Daniels went out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience for Tranmere Rovers, Gillingham, Blackpool and Aberdeen.

In June 2015, he signed for Wigan Athletic making 44 appearances over a three-year period and scoring three goals.

At the end of his three-year stay with the Latics, Daniels was a key member at Blackpool before heading to Kenilworth Road to work under Graeme Jones.

David Artell confirmed the 26-year-old will wear the number 5 shirt for the 2020/21 campaign.

That’s clearly been in the pipeline for a while - shame some posters on here don’t trust our manager to do the business! With all that experience in the Championship and L1 should be a step up from Lancashire and vie for selection alongside Nolan and Offord. Of course, Offord has experience in midfield so there’s another option for filling that enormous gap that we apparently have, although it’s not immediately apparent to me.

At last! What a relief. Hey AA, hope you weren't getting at me! 😉 And in retaliation, according to his 'first sight' comments, it seems a fairly recent development. 🙂

In addition, if Offord is to be considered an extra option in midfield, shouldn't he have been playing there in pre-season? (Or is he injured?)
So Bolton tomorrow and then off we go!

He's not played any recent games (like Porter) unless they were at Lilleshall yesterday.

Rumours about Alex Bruce. Don't really need another one do we?

No, we agree on that gazan! We have 5 CBs now if you include Sass-Davis, regardless oF whether you think he’s good enough he will never get a chance to prove it with yet another one on the books.

I’m not too worried about Daniels not having played many pre-season matches; after all he will be coming into an otherwise settled Back 5 and is a more experienced League defender than Nottingham was in January and he slotted in seamlessly.

Would be good to know what the injury list is. Porter and Offord not been appearing.

It's odd, DD speaks both about finally getting over the line, which sounds like been in the pipeline, and also happening very quickly with no time to talk to Coco and other former Crewe players he knows, so not sure what that tells us.

I see Bruce played against Kidsgrove tonight. Surely a stronger midfield is what we need now.
