It was a familiar tale for Motherwell as they lost 3-0 to Celtic at Parkhead. - External Link

Whether it be Accies or Celtic its been the same old story this season, as defensive errors cost us a point. It matters not a jot if we control or our opponents do we always present them with at least one chance. We need to tighten up after the break if we hope to rise off bottom spot.

Slack at the back and toothless up front. As I said last week, this team and manager are going nowhere.

Never thought we would get something from today so not overly fussed about the result but Celtic are clearly not clicking atm and as said above we let them off the hook.

However, the previous games have set the tone. And it's worth pointing out that even if we'd got the point we deserved in Dingwall and beat Hibs - which was a much more marginal game than the manager implies - it would still be a dismal August.

We're actually not that bad in the middle third but that's largely irrelevant - if you can't defend and can't score, you're rubbish regardless of what you do in the middle.

The straw to cling to is that we've been competitive every week and we know from experience the difference between winning 1-0 (and being hailed) and losing 0-1 (and being hated) in Scotland is absolutely tiny. Some deep breaths, minor tweaks and one result might get our confidence back after the international break. But we'll lose to Rangers and Pittodrie looks like nil points too - so anything less than seven from the Saints and Killie (which would still leave us on a fairly miserable 9 from 11 games) and it's officially a relegation scrap all the way to May.

Robinson has turned it round before when looking absolutely doomed, realistically he has those three games to do it again.

In this crazy Covid season I expected our usual 'up's and down's' sitting in the FP Rollercoaster. However, got to say, I did not expect us to be rock-bottom pre-International break.
Then again ... given we've got the 5hittest form since January (even taking lockdown into account), should we be surprised? Some serious actions needed, or we're in a continuous downward spiral that ends up you know where. Trouble at t'Mill ...

If we were to bring out a box of Motherwell chocolates it would contain only soft centres. Right through the middle of our team we don’t have someone that will physically boss a game or an opponent. Peter Hartley by no stretch of the imagination was the most skilful player in our team but he had a physical presence that opposition forwards knew they were in for a rough time. Same thing applied in the opposition box where he threw himself in front of opponents to get to the ball and had a never say die attitude. None of our current players seem to have that drive or desire. IMO our manager during the international break has to in his own mind find his strongest starting 11 and play them in their right positions. He has to persevere with them so as the get to form an understanding and partnerships of each other’s strengths. Chopping and changing the line up week on week doesn’t allow this, and by doing this players left out will try harder to get in the team rather than expecting to be just given a game. As things stand at present we could easily be the next Partick Thistle after a great finish in the Premier league look where they are now. As a club I don’t think we could survive that or want to go down that road.
