O/T:- Is this the worst PM since the war?

Watching Boris at PMQ yesterday was dumbfounding. He was absolutely hopeless. His public speaking style is a parody of his hero, Winston Churchill. Starmer absolutely crucified him even though Boris failed to answer a single one of his questions and told at least 3 serious lies. On 3 occasions, the Speaker had to interrupt him for his poor behaviour.
The thing is he must have felt secure in his position as PM because there was simply no one else. However, with the rise of Rishi Sunak, the Tories have possibly the most promising politician in the house. He's young and inexperienced but comes over as a decent human being.
I give you a brilliant summing up by John Crace, the Grauniad's political diarist.

The meltdown precipitated by Starmer continued for the rest of PMQs. Boris seemed to have no idea there were a huge number of industries such as aviation, tourism and hospitality that weren’t going to return to normal anytime soon.

Nor did he know that Matt Hancock had just extended some local lockdowns at the very moment he was saying more people should be going back to work. One day, it might occur to Boris that some companies might not want to take a punt on their employees’ health by forcing them back before the workplace is properly secure. But today wasn’t that day.

Rather, it was the day for Boris’s carers to try to get him out the Commons before he did any more damage to either the country or the Tory party.

It was also a day for those watching PMQs to ask themselves what they had done to deserve a leader who is visibly falling apart week on week. There was never anything very clever about Boris: now there isn’t even anything funny. Of all the coronavirus joints, in all the towns in the world, he walks into ours.

He is only Prime Minister for two reasons:

    1. He had no credible opposition.
    2. He shook his fist and said "let's get Brexit done" a lot.

He just doesn't know what to do, and the Covid-19 crisis has shown him up for exactly what he is - hopelessly incompetent.

I'll take the bait . My initial reaction was that the bar is quite low, so "worst since the war" is hard to justify. However, I'm really puzzled by his approach to leadership since the election. I know coronavirus is the biggest crisis a UK government has had to deal with since the war, but with his huge majority Boris should be able to lead Thatcher style (I hate both him and her, so bear with me). What I mean is that he has such a massive mandate, he can basically do whatever he wants. If you contrast him with the first Blair Government with a similarly huge majority. Blair hit the ground running, had clear objectives, and got on with the job. Boris doesn't seem to have any clear ideas, or action plan for putting them into practice. I don't really know what he stands for other than Brexit. What successive Tory leaders have got from Blair is trying to control sound bites, and the media. The difference is that Blair had some substance, and Boris, like May and Cameron before him, doesn't seem to have any. What did Blair stand for: NHS and education, education, education. What does Boris stand for? I don't really know. I don't even know what he wants to achieve with Brexit. Its clear we'll be out of transition in January (I think). But I dont really know what he wants after that.

Good shout on Eden. Callaghan had a minority Government and was stitched up by the unions in the "winter of discontent". It came back to bite us in the form of Thatcher.

I want to know which war Sid is on about. If it’s the Napoleonic, almost certainly the worst. I couldn’t say much further that, because back then they made lumps of dogsh!t prime minister if it was related to the right family.

    Yeah, nothing much has changed.

    1. Correct ..... Good owd Jeremy Lenin ... the best propaganda machine the Tories have ever had.

    2. Correct ...... which gave him an unassailable majority .

Do you think Captain Boring and his band of front bench rabble will ever get into power .... I don't. Four more years is a long long time in politics and many of Boris's present clangers will be long forgotten when the next GE arrives. What matters to all countries EP is the state of their economy and there's only the Tories who will make ours recover, which it will .... and not by overtaxing the wealthy unduly. We will see what Rishi has to say in his forthcoming fiscal plan.

You may call the far right but Jesus Christ, the far left minority are causing chaos the world over and the right are deciding enough is enough. We've had enough of LW bilge and softness, the goons from Extinction Rebellion causing chaos and many more PC groups. I believe next year will see many loopholes closed in the law to counter this chaos. Whilst you, Sid and a few on here, are more than entitled to your LW views, I've enough confidence in our government to make things happen for the better ....... something I don't think any Socialist government would achieve. I may be wrong .... we will wait and see.

Christ ! I look at our youngsters protesting against the continuance of this bilge and the average life statistics and I have hope. The world can be different and we don't have to look at the Philip Green's of this world floating about on their yachts. You old farts have been conned into believing the economy and continuous growth is important and the more senile you get the more you have to keep convincing yourselves it's true because you will look back at your subservient lives and realise what a waste it was.

No, He is not the worst. He is a complete joke of an incompetence but we have had worse.

Please name one that wasn't a complete waste of time.
