Or just being hopeful,does anyone else suspect that these players wanting to come to Newcastle is because someone is pulling strings behind the scenes,has the word been quietly passed around that a takeover can be resurrected or is Ashley just trying to stay in the Prem until another prospective buyer comes along.

I have been thinking the same. This isn't like Ashley. I have no interest in what happens until Ashley is gone, Bruce is gone and Hoffman and Masters are gone from the PL, but I know a lot of you have.
Mike Ashley will not change so why these signings, outside his age preference and sell on( apart from Lewis). Lets be honest, if the consortium were successful and these were the 4 signings to begin with I think you would all be happy with them.
The only worry with this thinking would be if he sold someone to get the money back like ASM.
