Here we go again guys. On Saturday 12 Sep, just 45 days since our semi final play-off defeat against Brentford, and a new season is upon us.
We come off the back of a Cup defeat to Newport, whilst Preston fared better with a resounding win against Mansfield, plus playing well in their friendliest against tough PL opposition.
29/8 Preston 4 - Mansfield 0 (Cup)
1/9 Preston 0 - Burnley 0
4/9 Sheff Utd 2 - Preston 2
5/9 Everton 2 Preston 0
On the injury front, Byers is still out. Then there’s what’s become an annual event from our invisible, parsimonious American owners, the culling of our best players to lessen the wage bill.
This time it’s Celina, Van der Hoorn, Dyer, Kalulu, Mulder, John, MacKay ,Gallagher and Brewster, who have all either been sold, end of contract, loanees returned to parent clubs, or told they are no longer wanted.
We will need more time for the three cheaper replacements to gel with the rest of the team.
Not many Swans fans can see us getting anything from this one after our disastrous displays recently. We will be boosted though by the return of three defenders, Roberts, Cabango and Guehi, fresh from International duty. Brewster will be a big miss up front and we’ll have to rely on Ayew and new signing Lowe to provide the goals.
