Sorry, I have to renege it's a bit hectic here. Didn't even get a chance to sort my team properly.

No worries, Oz. There was only a miniscule turn around time for the write up this week, what with the doubles, and triple games. Not helped by you being 11 hours ahead either. A big ask, even for someone who isn't busy.

    Update for GW36

Everyone got about 50 points apart from The Special One who got 82 and is over 100 points clear at the top. Can't think who that is, off the top of my head.

Top 56k now, so I'm sorry - I was going to be daft and captain someone ****e, but I want to finish as high as possible.

    I'm captaining Dallas this week

Ha ha I was going to write up Gameweek 36 tonight, but you saved me a job! That should be short enough for Mr Fussypants Oz!

I'll do the last two of the season to send folks to sleep with ...

Really well done Sam (ouch!). You've completely surpassed the rest of us this season. It would be cool if you could finish in the top 50K! I'm just desperately trying not to let your son take 3rd off me!

With school nearly out for summer, our mascara dripping, platform soled foot stomping, silk jacketed and glitter shirted bunch of VMFL divas felt the noise as fist waving FL fans were permitted a long-awaited return to the glitterball stadiums. So, which VM managers were declaring a little post-Villa match hot love for their team, and which dinosaur manager ended the week hiding behind a glam rock?

Proving himself to be the main man at Top of the VM Fantasy League Pops this and nearly every other blinking week was Telegram Sam, who also appeared to be challenging for Bongo's modesty crown, declaring Mcginnit to winnit so great he was thinking of forming a tribute team, as he shuffled his way into the top 45K in the world. Not sure where he is in Wales though.

Despite spending tooooo much time hanging on the telephone to treat em mean, keep em keen, tooo tight satin troosered, Oz , and miserably failing to out dug out diva David into 2nd place, Winnie proved she ain't no Blondie as she and her now glitter covered brunette locks held onto the top 3 spot, as Harry declared that out stepping a 9 year old ain't nothing to brag about.

Jitterbug boogieing swapsie places this week were Yubbs and Jesh, as 7th placed too Big for his platform booted Feet, Bongo discovered his name was Mud with Rosie after forgetting to wipe his giant feet before making his way to the dance floor. After handing Bongo a broom, Rosie set about out Dancing Queening Oz who proved himself to be very much two steps behind everyone else, after last week's failure to hand his team sheet in on time

Keeping Sweet in 10th to 13th places respectively were Picasso, Honest John, Nuc (and his newly named Get Well Rosie team) and Gornal after staying in tune with last week's places.

Meanwhile, Sparks could be seen flying at the bottom end of the dance floor as BB declared this town ain't big enough for the both of us as he and Dazzy decided to slug it out for 14th place, as Liam neatly side stepped the Rocky Horror Show of Relegation zoned Iwuz, AV, and Will.

Manager of the week is Gornal, whose Claret and Blue Army won an impressive 66 points, with Sam and Winnie sharing the runner up prize on 65 points each, and BB taking 3rd on the podium with 64 points.

Riding on his white swan to super Drongo/Mare status (I'm sure Rosie knows exactly how many above mentioned accolades ) is the one and only dinosaur manager, AV. But if you're going to be a dinosaur, might as well be a T-Rex.

Ok, well, that's it for this week. Team sheets for our final week of the season to be handed in by 2.30 pm on Sunday 23rd May. Looks pointedly at Oz.

    Good luck all!

A great 💥💥💥💥💥 read as usual Winnie. 👏👏👏

I didn’t know your specialist subject was Glam Rock. Lol

Many thanks Nuc for your good wishes.🤩

I did manage to take advantage of Oz’s managerial faux pas sneaking past at full pelt which is no mean feat with a zimmer. Fingers crossed the Messi can hold off 🤞 Oz’s week 38 response the higher we finish the more virtual cash 💰 we get. ⚽️

    Thanks Rosie.

Ha ha, don't tell AV, but I might have had a little extra help from Uncle Google. I thought I'd do a little glam rock themed update in honour of AV's outstanding Drongo/Mare record. Now, where's he disappeared to again?!

Ha ha, the thought of Oz being overtaken by a girl on a zimmer made me laugh. Serves him right for being so cheeky.

I hope you are in a little less pain now and doing as well as you can with your injury. xxx

I saw you'd done an update so made some dinner and settled in for the night. Loved the bit on Telegraph Sam. Hark the crowing further up the page. Deserved though. Not a patch on Bongo. He'd be excruciatingly unbearable topping the leader board week after week.

To be fair to me Rosie is just mostly laying around reading romance novels and managing her side.

Hey Yubbs. I sense you lurking. Say hello.

Ha ha Mr Smartypants . Glad one bit met with one's approval. Giggles x. Yes, despite crowing, Sam still has a long way to go before he gets to snatch Bongo's modesty crown from him.

Rosie, I hope you are not going to let Oz get away with that?! Give that one a inch and he'll take two trips round the world in a hot air balloon!

Yubby, if you're reading, as much as it pains me to agree with Oz, it would be lovely if you popped in to say hello, bro.

Well, it's the one we've all been waiting for! No nail biting endings this season, as our winner effectively got crowned a loooong time ago ... but, for tradition's sake, I would like (well, actually, the word like is inaccurate, but it would be churlish to write "it pains me" ) to announce our VMFL winner of the 20/21 season as ...

    (drum roll)

    Mr Sammy Hubball!!!!

Really well done Sam. I'm pretty sure that's the biggest win we've ever seen on our little VM mini league. Sam not only put 130 points between himself and 2nd placed David, but finished the season in the world's top 41K. Sam kept a million steps ahead of the rest of us in terms of forward planning and good judgment, and both his win, and his final ranking, are well deserved. He'll be starring on the FPL show as a pundit before long.

Well done to everybody else too. The standard gets higher and higher every season, and the comp was made even more challenging this year by teams dropping like flies with covid. A far cry from my early days, where Oz would look in to make a transfer once a month, and we'd lose half the managers after about 3 weeks. When you see the likes of former winner, Iwuz, being relegated, and twice champ Dazzy in the relegation battle mix, you know it's been a tough season.

Completing our Champions League party are Winnie and Yubbs, with Jesh set for Europa next season, with the final elite top ten comprising Harry, Bongo (who finished in Wales' top 11,000 - I won't mention that Wales only has 11,001 managers), Picasso, who, after a stonking week strode past Rosie in to 8th place, while Oz, despite Rosie's zimmer and his extra long legs, spent too much time checking out fluffy clouds, butterflies, and smelling the roses along the way, and that's exactly the way I like him.

Mid table obscurity beckons for HJ, Gornal, Nuclear, BB, Liam and Dazzy who finished the season 11th to 16th respectively.

However I would like to give special mention to Liam for his determined battle to escape relegation. He not only never gave up, taking on former champs, including Iwuz, but he also had the willpower to save his wild card chip to the final week! Greedy Hubball could never do that!

Sadly heading off to the Fantasy Championship are Iwuz, AV and Will, but if they bribe a certain person with enough jelly babies, she may allow them back next season.

While it is Sam's day, it seems fitting that Picasso ends his reign as current champ with a stonking 80 points and a Manager of the Week medal. Like Liam, showing more than a little willpower by keeping back his bench boost chip to this week. I think that might be a good omen, Liam!

Finally, the Drongo/Nightmare of the week award goes to AV. I think that must be a record.

So, that's it for another season. I've really enjoyed playing, so a thank you to each and every one of you for making it such a fun comp.

Special big thanks go to the amazing Rosie. How she keeps the updates going week in week out I will never know. Rosie, I hope the summer break gives you a little time to recover from your injury.

Have a fabulous summer everyone (winter for Oz, Liam and Yubbs)!! Keep safe, keep well and see you all very soon so we can do it all over again!

    Winnie x
