A comfortable win in the end. We took our early chances well, but in reality we should have scored more. Tonight was a wonderful opportunity to build up a healthy goal difference. It was goal difference that cost us dear last season. I thought Saiss had a terrific game and Jimenez looked sharp. Neto, before being substituted, covered just about every blade of grass in a display of selfless running.

It was good to see Nuno giving new signings an early run out, something he has not done in the past. Sheffield United will cause many teams problems with their physicality and movement. Man City will pose a much sterner test next week.

We play Man City in league play next. After that - West Ham, Fulham, Leeds, Newcastle and Palace. That’s two newly promoted teams and teams that finished 13th, 14th and 16th in the Prem last year. Even if we lose to Man City, it’s a clear path to get off to a fast start.

An interesting spectator in the stand last night was the England Manager Gareth Southgate. He was either checking on Connor or the United keeper. He certainly wouldn't have written the names of any of the English lads who kicked lumps out of some of our players.
