You still seem to be misunderstanding me. It is not one match, or for that matter one season, which shows conclusively how good or bad a manager is. And last season was more enjoyable than most, because Ardley got the team playing effectively at the non-league level we’re in. It doesn’t make the previous season any more palatable, of course.

It's the nature of sport though that you can be in front until the last few minutes, the last lap, the last hurdle and all that hard work counts for nothing when you crash out, fall over, or concede at the end.
