Let us never forget this thread was started before the league season has even begun.

A true gem even by NCM standards.

    Let's hope it isn't vindicated.

My interest is purely for the well-being and survival of the club and I am very sad to read so many comments based on pre-Covid days. Every business in the country is having to adapt to new and unforeseen circumstances; and if they don’t they’ll fail. Old success formulas are not working and we already have millions on the dole, with more to follow.
The only facts to consider are these:-
The Reedtz family saved the club.

Neal Ardley and his methods and team choices brought us down to Division FIVE.
He did not bring us to the play-offs. We didn’t get to the play-offs on the back of our performances, but because all the other teams in the chase collapsed dramatically at the last hurdles.
We were then beaten by Harrogate – not Chelsea, Juventus or Real Madrid. Just think about it, Harrogate.
A whole bunch of players then left. Some of them were excellent players but they were side-lined and not given a chance.
A new bunch of players have now come in and if you have ever played football you will recognise the players with talent, even after three games. From what I have seen there is great potential there, however, this will all be lost if the manager doesn’t lead and inspire the players, because if he doesn’t we will have a bunch of players like Enzio, who appears to perform at 15% of his capability. As Ardley has proved that he cannot motivate players what makes people think that he will motivate them now?
Because of Covid, nobody has time for experimentation and the argument to leave him where he is, is foolish and bad business. I wonder how many of you would be so generous and noble if all your finances were cut off – just like with the Reedtz? I guarantee that you would be screaming blue murder and not banking on past failures.
Sometimes it is best in business to take a big financial hit now in order to avoid a bigger hit later and as things stand today we have no guarantee whatsoever that the club will survive after August 2121.

Don't forget it's easy to not back a Notts managerial appointment, history shows us that. It's what Durham and Jonnyt1 have been doing for years now,.seasoned pros.

It was expected it's going to happen 90% of the time at some point, this one was special due to the comical timing.

That's true. Therefore, if they are currently willing to put their faith in Neal Ardley to manage the club, then perhaps it would be best to respect their decision and get behind the manager and team until they decide otherwise. I'm sure the Reedtz brothers will have their own ideas about what success or failure will look like, and the consequences this would have for the manager.

Don't laugh too soon, it will only be comical if we have a good season under Ardley.

If we have a poor season it will prove to have been a good idea, and the laugh will be on you.

The manager got us relegated, not the players nor previous managers or the players. They had nothing to do with it.

Ok....But when it comes to finishing 3rd and in a play off position that wasn't down to him. That was because everyone else collapsed. So no credit, just good fortune.

Yup, another fair and balanced view.

This guy is gold , keep 'em coming.

Thank you Elite my point exactly. Very easy to say Notts won't successful in the upcoming season, the manager isn't good enough etc. In the past 20 seasons anyone saying that before every season would have nailed it the vast majority of the time.

Oh no not just on me , look at your poll thread. Plenty of names for you to make a note of for future reference.

If a club like Newcastle or West Ham drops into the 2nd tier, every season they spend in that division and don't win promotion is seen as a failure.

Seeing that we've never sunk this low before, finishing 3rd coupled with the nature of the defeat in the play off final, as well as performances across the season in general (particularly away to clubs with massively less resources than our own), 2019/20 is most definitely not something to celebrate. Debatable as a failure, but definitely not a success.

Very similar feeling to the Murrphy/Thompson campaign in which we reached the Wembley play off final for which virtually no-one looks back upon with any sense of pride. Long after wins against Maidenhead and Bromley have been forgotten (if they haven't already) I can guarantee that this season - football wise - will come to be defined in the memory by that defeat at Wembley, just as 1995/96 is now remembered for the pathetic display against Bradford City and nothing more.

Maybe there is a something else, a middle ground between the extremes of Success and Failure for a relegated side.

Maybe it's not just promotion = success , no promotion = failure for a relegated side in the new division.

Maybe our first season was neither a success nor a failure.
