    Aye, interesting. Cheers, Benny.

    That season after we finished 5th was a chance to kick on but we ended up only buying Anita. But, you could also argue that Pardew was so shit that, ultimately, the season would have been a bust anyway. That season was down to the quality of players Carr had identified, particularly that Cabaye/Tiote combination which is right up there with some of the best partnerships we've had, imo.

    Had we pushed on from 5th finish, Ashley's legacy here could be different. . . I doubt it but it could of been.
