Thread: Always next time...

    Always next time...

Ah well...they were a touch better than us but not much in it and we fair threw away the goals.

Niggly game from both teams, I imagine there will be some grumpy folk on the plane home.

I think that's a fair summary. We were down to ten before we lost a goal from open play. The first goal was a good delivery, but somebody lost his man. I thought that a couple of their guys escaped a red by the skin of their teeth - a two - footed challenge doesn't have to make any contact, and they put in a couple of them. The director of the feed actually showed them in close - up during breaks in the play.
Disappointing, but we have more important things to attend to. Not disastrous.

Thought we were still in it until Dec handed it to them with a stonewall penalty and 2nd yellow. Aye, more important things to concern us that a fairytale run in Europe.

No shame indeed but when you get to Q3 and certainly the play-off, there will only ever be teams better than us. Accordingly if we get one only a wee bit better, ie beatable, throwing them the game like tonight is hugely disappointing...I thought Long's first half effort was going to sneak in but there was then a difference with their putting in quality into the box that we could only dream of, combined with O'Donnell doing god knows what. It's ironic that despite having walking liabilities in the team like Grimmy, McGinley and Lamie it was our Scotland internationals who cost us what outside chance we had.

Still, we didn't disgrace ourselves in progressing beyond our nominal seeding, banked a bit of cash and still have the real reward of third - a seeded spot in the last 16 of the LC - to come. Fingers crossed for a better draw than usual...but first we need some points from Killie and St Mirren or business will get serious again pdq.

Deeply disappointed with the result, but the performance on the whole was decent. What Gallagher was thinking of is beyond me. He seems to be regressing, and not progressing. Reached his level and going backwards at a serious rate of knots IMO. I'd bench him.

We created few chances on goal .... would question if Gallagher & O’Donnell are international class as both poor beyond belief ... Robinson summer signings been woeful and yet some think performance was decent. We are blunt in attack with Long disinterested and Watt running around winning fouls. Q Did Watt have an attempt on goal or anyone else for that matter ?

Robinson has not taken us forward ... I would not let him near cash accumulated Europa/transfers ... Taxi for Robbo and base on observation past 12 months.

Long was close to opening the scoring with a great effort but otherwise did nothing. Watt lead the line very well but was harmless.

There's no such thing as international standard, you're either the best player available in your position or not. In an ideal world neither Gallagher or SOD should not have been near the Scotland squad but they got , and deserved, their caps because there was no one better.

In the words of Engelbert Humperdink …. "Please release me, let me go ”.
I refer ... Lamie, McGinley, Hylton, Hastie, Long and Watt.
Admit Watt is industrious but IMO White more potent in box and should start alongside Lang ... build up partnership
Wingbacks only work if can get ball into box ... we were ineffective in attack

Accept we have injuries but those Robinson brought in summer are woeful and Crawford does not fill me with confidence,
Stop the influx of utter haddies and bring in 2-3 ‘quality’ players

    LOL

I never, ever, ever thought 'The Hump' would be referenced in a Well forum discussion. Well, certainly not after the departure of Chris Humphries a few years back !

IMO we need what I call journey men in the team players like Lasley, Arnott, Pettigrew who gave their all week in and week out. Certainly not the most gifted players but they knew what it meant to put on a WELL shirt and play for our club. Apart from Campbell no one else in the current playing pool shows that desire or determination. Giving Gallagher the captains arm band has been a step backward IMO for both the player and the team . I would make Carson or Campbell captain although it might not be fair to put Campbell under so much pressure and scrutiny
