    Diamond Geezer

I've had a go at analysing Neal Ardley's midfield diamond . . . I'll put me tin hat on!

I'm clueless when it comes to tactics.
Can Abbott be blamed if it goes wrong or is this obviously Ardley's idea?

I think we were seeing echo's of this formation last season. My personal feeling is there may be an attempt by both the manager and the owners to try and create a footballing blueprint for the club for the future that lends itself to a Football Radar type signing. Then again it might just be Ardley getting desperate and trying his luck, who knows!

Barnwell, Murphy and Nolan all changed tactics the season after play off failures.

Maybe it's not uncommon to change tactics for a new season regardless.

Whatever formation you play, first and foremost, you must be able to pass the ball to your own player. Even with these supposed quality new signings, we are still unable to put 2 or 3 passes together..

Really clear explanation of this football tactic and something you obviously understand in detail. Thanks and are you looking for a job in football as I am hoping there might be one available soon

It's not us who need to bl**dy understand it. KISS comes to mind. And as Durham says, if players can't find each other, nor quickly control the ball, what's the point? Perhaps they are so busy trying to work out where they should be that they are not focussing on what is going on around them?
