    Asperations

With all of the gloom surrounding our performances it got me thinking about our transfers over the years & my question is this:
Which single transfer which you witnessed in his first appearance for the club, inspired you most & then over the years went on to consistently meet your asperations.
For me it was Supamac. From his debut onwards he was an inspirational figure for the club.IHe was so good in my eyes that I expected him to score every game.

There's definitely a thread to be had about the reverse of this"

As for a transfer that lived up to expectations? Maybe Ginola? I couldn't believe we;d got someone as good as him the first time I saw him play and he was also a 'glamorous' signing, the like of which we weren't used to. Must admit that I didn't know too much about him before he arrived although it was seen as a bold and exciting move. Was gutted when he went.

players dont tend to stay long in the modern game, too much money to be made from their agents to keep them moving.

In the Mike Ashley era, the only signing we have made that had an instant impact and went on to have a good spell at the club was Cisse for me.
Joined mid season, scored some cracking goals, had a good partnership with Demba Ba

Sir Les had a great debut and was quality for us, remember that game against Coventry and that goal as if it was yesterday. What he would be worth now.

Thinking about it, Rob Lee came to us with a burgeoning reputation after keegan famously sold Newcastle to him over the Premier league smoggies.

And he never let us down...one of my favourite ever Toon players.

For me, without a doubt, it was Keegan.

Arrived on a wave of hope and emotion, scored the winner in his first game. Not only did he never disappoint on the pitch, he was a constant inspiration to the team, club and city.

Surely Tino has to fit into this somewhere?
