Just playing devil's advocate here with young McNeill, because I do think he is a real talent who will come good again, BUT...........could it be he's not really as good as we were thinking he was ?
1) Despite our worries that we might lose him, no big club has thought it worth their while buying him off us. He must be on their radar, they must know all about him, they know we'll sell at the right price, but they've all said, 'Nah, you keep him'.
2) Gareth must know all about him, but not only did he not pick him for the full England squad, he didn't even want him in the U21s.
Just asking like.

Well, now that Jeff Hendrick has gone, the fans need another player to moan at ---poor Dwight could be the one who, as a 19 year old talented footballer, is written off by the Burnley faithful. Amazing!
BT ---it is the way he is. I have watched him for years now and spoken to him a few times when he was with the youth team and when he was moving up the Under 23s. Quiet lad and takes his football seriously, he doesn't like making mistakes and even Sean has said that he should smile a bit more. He has also been the subject of possible transfer talks and will have been a bit unsettled by that, however, I can't comprehend how any fan would want rid of an undoubted talent like him!
Our MVP by far, but he has started going backwards more, instead of trying to go and beat players or pass forward. Good crosser and fearsome shot. Why doe he stand next to Westwood arms upwards at free kicks he should take a few himself.
Often looks like the weight of the world is on his shoulders these days and is often slow at tracking back.
Needs a mental boost to his confidence, hoping it clicks on the Tyne for him.
He's a 19 year old lad who has not been allowed to be slowly introduced into the side.
Would do him a power of good to rest him for 2/3 games. I think.
