And will it still be necessary to give a place of origin on the food? If not, you won't know what you are eating.

Have a word with your local butchers and ask what they think.

Cowmans have standards to uphold you know
If imported foreign food is inferior to ours 59, I won't be buying it, if any British food producers lower their standards, I won't be buying that either, so they can please themselves, doesn't bother me. No idea if place of origin will still be on food, reputable producers and butchers will ensure it is, and if it isn't I'll take the hint and not buy it, so again it doesn't bother me.

Nothing against Cowmans but I rarely go in there, Roy Porter at Chatburn is our butcher, I doubt cheap foreign imports will bother him. Customers are usually hanging out of his door all day because of his reputation for quality, he doesn't try to compete with cheap opposition, British or Foreign. And if there's a better mince and onion pie than his out there, I've yet to eat it, and don't get me going on his pork pies, to die for.

We have similar in Ashington, sinkov, he has remained open whilst the rest of the main street is collapsing around him apart from phone and nail shops. He has been there for years and his stuff is good and long may he continue!

I'll certainly pop in an try the mince and onion pies Sinkov, but I simply can't stand pork pies.

For reference, here are the best pies in the world by category.

    Meat - Cissy Green, Haslingden.
Meat and potato - Sixsmiths, Edenfield.
    Steak - Leavers, Darwen.

I have to congratulate my mate 59-60, he started what must have been one the most tedious sounding threads this board has ever been subjected to, and that's saying something. I like politics, but FFS, The Agriculture Bill, wow, yeah, right

I gave it a day and half a dozen replies tops, then it would sink without trace, but here it still is, still going strong on 48 posts. Well done mon ami, whoever would have thought it ?

I never knew the staff personally Baeeie, but I remember being on a food hygiene course with members of the staff in 1989.

I haven't been in for years but I really hope they are still going - fantastic pies.

My posts are aimed at the more thinking man Sinkov, not the Philistines who follow the common herd.
