They did have the money to pay for it. Then Covid happened. Surely the owner should be applauded for trying to keep the youngsters in playing, keeping their mental health in check, keeping their progression going to the best of their ability.
Will you be moaning about it in a few years time where we've either made money from these young players or we have a team full of academy players that are plying their trade (hopefully successfully) in the Premiership? Okay we cant see the future and you never know what will happen, but keeping the academy running surely makes the above more likely to happen than if we'd just stuck it in cold storage for god knows how long?
This has all been blown out of proportion simply because the owner and TA have been candid about how difficult its been. Other clubs in the league have had to pay off managers, sign players because they are worried about relegation, where we have given ourselves a decent shot at being able to sign 0 players this window (remember Fuchs and McNulty were signed well into the start of the season) and still manage to be comfortable in the league.
The future may be cloudy for all clubs but keeping our academy players progressing throughout this time will make sure the future will eventually be Tangerine
So no mild banter allowed when discussing on the BBC then? So sorry I didn't realise that humour was not an option on the ultra serious platform.
As for "blaming everyone else" the only blame was directed towards the unknown members of the secretive Joint Response Group who decided how to distribute the government money. Money by the way that I and probably most readers of this forum paid in tax. Who decided the criteria?
By the way, I'd like to add that it's more embarrassing finding myself discussing issues with someone who is incapable of using capital letters, full stops and basic grammar. Sadly that makes your point lose credibility with lots of sensible people.

its just not the phrases I would use when on a national platform. comes across as incredibly arrogant esp when the whole debate was about our finances. seemed more like deflection.
Face it you went on with the best intentions but you've made yourself and united look a shambles on it.
More deflection again btw

Reading some of the outrageous comments on this topic, it seems that when folk are incapable of structured debate and are losing an argument, they always resort to this kind of abuse and totally deflect from the actual issues of financial mismanagement at our Club. So sad.
Of course the moderators are responsible for dealing with this?

You seem to be taking this conversation more serious than last night's debate. Not enough mild banter for you?
Why don't you take the time instead of commenting individually and send a big message that details everything you are worried about in terms of the finances at the club. If you are right, people will post things like "totally agree" and "spot on". Surely better than just rising to the bait of people here who know that you will.
