Seems the FA don't know FA about footy up your way do they Sub. Do one of your lot win the Vase every year, they should do, they're in it under false pretences. In horse racing terms Ashington are Group horse running in a Handicap.

Of course the northeast clubs do well in the Vase, they have good players who haven't made it at the higher levels. Young cast-offs from clubs like Boro, Sunderland etc. Many just give up but there are some good lads who just want to play and put in a shift every game in the Northern League. Ashington have a good blend this season who started off badly because they missed a lot of chances. They then started putting them away and are winning.
By the way sinkov, do the FA know anything about football anywhere? Just asking, I'm sure that alto will have an answer!

They seem to have got it right round here Sub, if you play at Nelson and Charnock Richard's level, you're in the Vase, if you play at one level higher, like Clitheroe, you're in the Trophy. Ashington are clearly at, or possibly even above, Clitheroe's level, but get to play in the Vase.

All right for some, and I'm sure Ashington aren't complaining, guaranteed easy money every season.

sinkov, Clitheroe play at a level above Ashington. That is the reality of the situation, although Clitheroe have never been a League club but both Ashington and Nelson were ---it's a funny old game as the Spurs goalscorer used to say

Just which set of lunatics would take away a fully established "nailed on cert to play" international football player on the eve of an important international match to appear before a Kangaroo Court on some jumped up betting charge? The FA really are the problem Alto.

we know how to defend, and we know how to sneak a goal....and against these - should bag us a point, maybe more.

We're back to square one though Sub, the reality of the situation is that the FA are seriously underestimating the strength of football in the North East, which is why your teams are farming the Vase. They have been for years so I doubt much is going to change, I just feel sorry for clubs like Nelson and Charnock Richard, they should be the strongest teams in that competition, it's something they should have a chance of winning and making some much needed money from, but when they play Northern League teams they might as well not bother turning up.
