The Telegraph disclosed on Thursday how Clarke had floated proposals for a 'Premier League 2' and B-teams in the Football League during secret talks with Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
On Thursday night a series of clubs across the pyramid expressed dismay at his handling of the crisis, with Accrington Stanley chairman, Andy Holt, saying he was "sickened". Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters' Association, also poured scorn on the clandestine plot.
In an explosive new twist to The Telegraph's revelations that rocked English football this week, Rick Parry, the EFL chairman, shared an early draft of Project Big Picture with the EFL Board on Wednesday in a bid to show it was Clarke that had instigated the controversial proposals.
