Or if any part of the attacking player is onside, they aren’t offside.
mate, i have just seen the challenge! that could have been career ending! could have snapped his leg backwards at the knee.
The crazy part is, VAR wont get involved because there was an offside in the build up to that tackle.
The people who run our game and bring the rules in have no clue about football.
Its gone from suit wearing "has been pompous old men" like Howard Wilkinson who played the game in an era of no swearing in front of a lady, pints before and after a game and maintaining the integrity of the sport
to utter clueless corrupt money grabbing buffoons who love a few bribes rather than ensure the game is officiated properly
This doesn’t solve the problem - there would still be arguments ove millimetric tight decisions.
For offside they need to concentrate on leaving VAR to identify only blatantly poor decisions. Any close ones eg less than 30 cm should be decided by the linesman. I’d also say that if the VAR ref takes more than 30 seconds to make a decision then he’s missed his chance. If it takes more than 30 secs then it’s very close and so, let it go.
When I was reffing it made no difference whether there was a previous offence - e.g. offside.
If a serious offence followed, then that would still be punished.
After all, players can and are carded after the final whistle even.
In any case, I see that T Rex has got off scot free.
The reason given is that it was reviewed at the time and a red card was not considered appropriate.
Let's remember that next time one of our players gets retrospective ban!
The irony of them saying they can't review the decision because the ref saw it whilst using VAR to routinely review decisions the ref has made based on what he thinks he's seen is atriking.
Surely that rule should now be defunct?
