Livermore’s performance improved tonight because Sawyers was replaced. This time last year pundits were commenting how well the pair played together. Livermore was praised and visibly looked fitter with more mobility, and Sawyers was pinging some great passes around the park. When both got suspended together it seemed a mini disaster. Pundits were discussing who was the best midfielder in the championship at that time Sawyers or Philips of Leeds.
Then just before lockdown Sawyers performances began to decline. The confident capable maestro pulling the strings became a sweating, lacklustre, fowling, unenthusiastic liability in the team. When Bilic made remarks about the mentality of the team, and he has on numerous occasions I’m sure he has Sawyers in mind.
We never know what goes on behind closed doors, stuff happens to all of us and our work often suffers. We often expect players to produce their maximum every game and that is unrealistic, I’m as guilty as anyone. But honestly such a drop in performance needs investigating and in the meantime he place should be given to another. Sam field on the bench perhaps.

Agreed, he looked real quality start of last season, could be a loss of confidence or many other things
Theres no doubting of his quality esp to pass a ball, but the urgency, football brain of a prem player etc I am not so sure of

Sawyers’ confidence looks shot to pieces - maybe he has been reading this board. Seems a shadow of the player he was at the beginning of last season. Not sure what has happened. Remember that out of character red card against Bristol City last season - just red mist out of nothing. I think there is something going on there......which we are not aware of ......
