He did but it didn’t seem like that against Forest

To me it looks like a:

4 2 3 1

Its obviously meant to be fluid, I.e. a 5 on midfield when out of possession but 3 in attack when on the front foot.

Wunt take much notice of what it says on ifollow. Warne abandoned 4 3 3 last season thank god! We played either 4411 on Tues or 4 5 1. You could tell the way Miller and Wiles tracked back from the start that they weren't particularly playing in an advanced role.

Selection is a trade off between defending and attack. I suspect Warnes first priority this season is that we do not become whipping boys of the League. Make sure we dont conceed and nick a couple at the other end.

To him credit hes done it really well to date - we've been in all games to the final whistle.

If we go to 2 up front we may conceed more. If we play one up front you pick your most prolific striker.*

If we go 442 and drop one of the front 2 back when we defend then do we either play a midfielder in that role (better defensively) or a striker?

Or 451 wnen we defend. Warne wants 9 back so we are tigher at the back. Given those instructions Miller and Wiles will drop off when we defend.

The problem we face is in transition. When we defend in a 451 formation and win the ball back, we cant get support up the pitch quick enough for a quick counter.
