Just hope he doesn't become the boo boy our fans struggle for one when Evans isn't in the team
You’re right, mista, but he’s very young (just 20) and young players can find it difficult in struggling sides.
One of the worst mistakes Cocu has made, imo, was to make Bird captain. 19/20 year old leaders are (very) few and far between. I agree with you about his potential and the need for people not to get on his back, but he’s still at the stage, imo, where he’ll benefit from the praise and criticism from an ‘older head’.

Just watched some of United v Chelsea...God it was dull!

With regard to Rooney, who does he replace in this 1-3-4-3 formation?

Logically there are 3 spots we could play him in. Those were filled up the road by Knight, Shinnie and Waghorn. If they keep on playing as well and keep up the energy they showed against the Red Dogs then I reckon Rooney is looking at a lengthy period of bench warming.

Agree with all that, MA...but he remains a more than useful and versatile squad member - and leader - to be able to bring on for the last quarter of a game and it is just three weeks since his late intervention brought us our only win of the season.

Whenever you feel down and depressed about our players and team, let's think of how well we would do with this starting lineup:

    Roy Carroll
    Mick Coop
    Claude Davies
    Spencer Prior
    Jay McEveley
    Eddie Lewis
    Bob Malcolm
    Vic Moreland
    Gary Teale
    Mikkel Beck
    Steve Biggins

Obviously only based on players I've seen turn out for us, and it's hatd to rule out Connor Sammon, so he can go on bench.

Captain? God knows, make it Bob Malcolm as he can bring the drinks.

Manager - too many to pick from, but to bring balance from earlier days I'll opt for John Newman although wee Billy and ****o Paul run him hard

RA your right he still needs experience around him Terrible mistake making him captain I said so at the time I've seen some really nasty comments about him on social media saying he should never be picked again If you never picked a player after a poor game there wouldn't be many playing Yes I watched the Man U c Chelsea game typical game of teams who has played in Europe during the week , no crowds doesn't help either I miss the moaning United fans

Expect him to be a bit more of a help of the bench than CKR

Nothing wrong with McEvely well not compared to the dross left backs we've had He loved putting the boot and fists in those reddogs
