Not really OC, I thought I covered that in Post 10,
"Face masks have been around a long time in medical and scientific establishments, I was sure that by early 2020 virtually everything that needed to be known about them and their uses was known, so like you 59, not being a medical expert, I listened carefully to what the experts said about them. There were about 100 daily televised press briefings over a period of 3 months covering April, May and June, I listened to what every medical expert had to say about keeping safe, not once in that lengthy period did any of them advise wearing face masks, not once. Just twice journos asked about them, once to Van Tamm, once to Harries, both of them clearly stated that they did not recommend wearing them, and these are two of the most eminent medical experts in the country."
But OK then I'll amend that claim, all the medical and scientific advice that I read and heard during the first wave of the pandemic, including from Dr Jenny Harries OBE, Deputy Chief Medical officer for England, from Professor Jonathan Van Tamm MBE, specialist in influenza, including its epidemiology, transmission, vaccinology, antiviral drugs and pandemic preparedness, from official Government, National Health Service, Public Health England and World Health Organisation publications, including the official Government advice to shops, restaurants, haidressers etc on re-opening on July 4th, all said the same thing. That masks offered no protection to the wearer, the evidence for protecting others was weak and not wearing them correctly, could be counter productive.
Not having any knowledge on this subject myself, I listened carefully to all the expert advice I could, from those individuals and organisations listed above. Were they all wrong ? Was I wrong and foolish to believe and trust them ? With respect OC, but what makes you think you can advise me on face coverings better than them ?
