Farnell and El Kash awaiting the Premier League Owners' and Directors Test clearance for a takeover attempt believed to be worth around £200million.
The test verdict is likely to be decided within the next few weeks and El Kashashy and Farnell have emerged as frontrunners ahead of ALK Capital LLC, who still harbour hopes of completing a deal themselves.
Both interested parties believe their deals are still possible.
