    Preston's finest.

Gone completely unnoticed in the British media, with them naturally concentrating on Geoghegan Hart's win in the Giro, but Preston's Hugh Carthy, riding for American team EF Pro Cycling, yesterday moved in to 2nd place in the Vuelta a Espana, 18 seconds behind Ecuador's Richard Carapaz.

With cycling currently making headlines again I think Hugh might be the next big thing for our media to concentrate on, at the moment I doubt many of our sports journos have even heard of him. Co-incidentally he's riding for the same team Bradley Wiggins rode for before he signed for Sky, they were called Garmin Slipstream back then.

Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton is walking the Formula 1 title, while simultaneously managing to make everyone go YUK!

I genuinely thought that Preston’s finest was Tom Finley.

I wouldn't argue against your dad's opinion alf, I was blessed to have watched Tom Finney play on many occasions and he was a smashing footballer in an unprotected era as far as football is concerned when there were plenty of enforcers around. He just got on with things and played the game.

Back to topic, it is also good to see British cyclists doing well, even though they are under the media radar!

Better talking about Sir Tom Finney Ashy. All these cyclists are just drug takers on wheels.

It was what made Lance Armstrong one of the greatest sportsmen ever, all his big rivals were using EPO as well, it was a level playing field, and he still rode away from them on the climbs like they had their brakes on.
