    Burnley v Chelsea Match Preview

Here we go as spendthrift Burnley who have splashed out £1million on recruiting midfielder Dale Stephens take on moneybags Chelski who have laid out a mere £220 million plus to recruit Havertz,Werner, Chilwell,Ziyech and Mendy. All this to add to the attacking threat of Giroud, Abraham and Pulisic and we know all about Pulisic. In our last meeting at Turf Moor almost exactly a year ago Pulisic helped himself to a perfect hat trick as Chelsea ran out comfortable 4-2 winners. Very late goals from Rodriguez and McNeil somewhat disguised the margin of the Blues superiority. Lampard and Chelsea clearly have an agenda to re-establish themselves as PL title contenders and a force in Europe. Their latest transfer spend eclipses the figure of £200 million being touted as the asking price in the Burnley take over saga. Chelsea warmed up for our Saturday game with an emphatic 4-0 win at Krasnodar while Burnley failed to capitalise on their chances in a disappointing 0-1 home defeat by Spurs. Wood and Barnes were both below par on Monday night but are likely to start again if fit. We need to start scoring goals. Only 3 League goals this season tells its own story. If Wood and Barnes fail to deliver Jay Rod and Vydra should surely be given more than a few minutes to show what they can do. We need to get McNeil on the ball in areas of the pitch where he can dictate play. In fact we will need to be at our very best all over the pitch. COYC!

I fear another heavy defeat outwood.

This was Lampard's "Selection Problem" from last night...
    Chelsea:
    16 Mendy
    28 Azpilicueta
    15 Zouma
    2 Rudiger
    21 Chilwell
    17 Kovacic
    5 Jorginho
    29 Havertz
    22 Ziyech
    11 Werner
    20 Hudson-Odoi
    Substitutes
    4 Christensen
    7 Kante (s 71')
    9 Abraham (s 80')
    10 Pulisic (s 71')
    13 Caballero
    14 Tomori
    18 Giroud
    19 Mount (s 71')
    24 James
    33 Emerson Palmieri (s 81')
    40 Ziger

And some on here will stay say we should have added at least two players to help us "compete" against this lot!

Judging from his performance last night, we need Bardsley back to dole out an early "clatter"...

Good to see a 17 year old and an 18 year old involved with the squad. I know that they are only on the bench, however, it won't do them any harm.

Also good to see that our Youth team beat Leeds 3-2 this morning with 17 year old Sam Unwin scoring a hat-trick. Our second win in successive games and 3 out of 7 seeing us in mid-table at the moment.
