My birthday was sandwiched between a 4-1 home defeat by Sunderland and a 3-0 defeat away at Carlisle...........
We drew with Chelsea 2-2 at Stamford Bridge on 28.08.91 in the top flight. 6 years later I went to my first game away to Shrewsbury when Devon White signed on the pitch in the Allardyce season.
September 1958 shows up as
Sat 20 BURY D 1-1 10 077 21 Roby , Parker
The final league table for that 58/59 season makes grim reading. Obviously an omen.
In the mid 70's I met my (now) Wife in the Midland Hotel in Mansfield. I thought I'd try the chat line of "Do you fancy going to Nottingham on Saturday?" "Oh that would be nice, yes", she replied...... So I took her to watch Notts v Leyton Orient. She's never forgiven me.
On 23rd October 1948 -the day after my birth- Notts played at Millwall and lost 3-2 in front of a crowd of 44,627. The size of the crowd was due to Tommy Lawton playing for Notts. Records show that at the end of the 1948/49 season Forest were relegated to Division 3 South, the league Notts were playing in. At the end of the 1949/50 season, Notts were promoted to Division 2 as champions. Forest finished fourth.
Born in March 1949 - same day, Home win against Norwich 2-1 at Meadow Lane. Lawton/Evans.
