    The Birth Game

So I was announced to the world on this day 55 years ago. The first game Notts played after I was born was a 1-1 draw away to Torquay in Division 4 on 30th October 1965. Brian Bates scored for Notts.

Interestingly I ended up playing for Brian at West Bridgford College 17 years later who was head of PE at the time. I played in goal that season, I'm 5' 7"!

Thought it might be fun for a few of you on here to own up to your age and post the first game Notts played after you were born. I would suggest UTM's fantastic website is the place to go for this info . . .

I was a summer baby, so the first game after I entered the world was a 2-3 defeat at home to Derby in the first game of the 1954-55 season.

The good news is that we did the double over Forest that season, winning 0-1 at their place and then 4-1 at home.

    Happy Birthday.

Notts played on the day I was born in 1959 away at Bury and we won 1-0 so a good day all round!

We played a day after I was born in a April 1978 and drew away at Stoke 1-1. Les Bradd putting us in front.
That season was our worst for a number of reasons as it took us 12 games to win our first game. Them across the Trent won the league. However the silver lining in the clouds was Mansfield’s relegation from our division (div 2).
We also got to the semi final of the Anglo-Scottish cup.

Oh dear - lost 6-0 away to Bristol City on the 12th Dec 61 - 6 days after I was born. Finished mid-table Div 3 that year, a 20yr old Tony Hateley played 40 games that season and a certain 19yr old called Astle joined us.

For me it would be the first game of the 56/57 season, a 2-2 draw at home to Bury. I didn't attend my first game until 1962 though, so in a couple of years I'll be able to change my username to 60Years_a_Pie.

I expect someone to look up Neal Ardley's date of birth and derail the thread, nice try though!

I was born in the close season, 1961. First game of 61/62 we beat Bristol City at home, 1 - 0 with a Roy Horrobin penalty.

    You've got a good memory.

I don't know why I was born on a Thursday as I was too young to ask but Notts next game after that world shattering day was on Saturday 13th Dec 1947 and we drew with Stockton in the F A cup 1 - 1. In the two(?) replays we won 4 - 1 and 4 - 0, no idea who scored.

3-0 home win against York City.

My daughter was born the same day we lost to Harrogate a few weeks back.
