Those of us lucky enough to remember that night have a treasured memory. That was an impressive Tottenham team.

We were, according to Martin Peters, 'all muck and nettles'. 'Night of wild excitement as Motherwell advance' was 'The Scotsman' headline. One of the guys in our car (up from Dumfriesshire) did his simulation of Watson's goal as we made our way back to the motor. His shoe flew off over a fence; we never saw it again.

Still remember the game vividly, as a thir**** year old, travelled to game on Supporters bus. Was the only one jumping up and down in MOTHERWELL when Spurs scored first goal as I won the sweep. We then came into the game and scored three goals to knock them out, what a night.

Huzzah! A decades long mystery is now solved. Was in the garden morning after that game and felt puzzled ... 'where the fekk did that shoe come from' I remember saying to myself? Size 8 as I recall.
