It would seem that Anya, who always looked good to me, was injury prone and came with a ludicrous wage deal. Blackman falls into the same category as FloJo, albeit much later, of just being a flop, Butterfield apparently never really wanted to come and hasn’t done anything elsewhere since (currently in Australia I believe) and I wish we still had Johnson. Used properly, which we seldom did, he still has plenty to offer imo. Still Derby based I think and possibly never got over being treated as ‘persona non grata’ at Derby for a while after the alleged biting incident at Stoke two years ago.
No I won't forget, this might sound a bit like me being an angst-ridden ****age eco warrior but that guy stole my future

Nick Blackman IMO needed a run to prove himself and is currently knocking em in for the Israeli Scottish Expat team McAbbi Tel Aviv

Agreed about Johnson, I'll never forgive him for how badly he played in that playoff first leg against Hull but he sort of redeemed himself and turned into a reasonable asset

Interesting story I heard way back from someone guffawing at me from Manchester, and never shared here before, was that Buttercup was a 'reluctant footballer'. cursed with being 'good' at it at school but not really being 'that bothered' as he grew up

If you don't mind watching golf, Tubes (from Soccer AM) plays golf with footballers on youtube, and he recently had a round with Jamie Mackie. Mackie was talking about the youngsters coming through now, not having the same desire or hunger for the game, it's very much a profession only for them. He's a funny guy, so a good watch too.

Johnson was good when on his game, trouble is that was not often enough. Butterfield was player of the season at Huddersfield in their promotion season, is now at Melbourne and looking at his history seems to move club every season - either his agent looks to make a percentage very year or theres an issue with him - whatever a bit of due diligence might have asked the question why does this player never "stick" at a cub ah well cest la vie, I still remember Claude and not fondly!
