Had Serbia not missed their penalty Clarke would be applying for the Accies job. He might be better than a previous bad bunch but his main attribute on Thursday was luck. Extra time was handed to Serbia when he removed McGinn, Dykes & Christie in favour of McBurnie, McLean & Paterson. Not the work of a genius.

Scotland were miles better than Serbia. I was actually surprised at how negative Serbia were.

We were lucky to get away with there being no Serbia goal in extra time. Taking off arguably our three best players gave the game to Serbia & it was us that were looking for the penalty shoot-out, not them. They were the better team in extra time & could have won. I agree Scotland did play well enough to deserve a 2-goal lead in 90 mins. But Clarke's substitutions were simply baffling & could have cost him his job if the Serbian 5th penalty taker hadn't done him a favour. Thin margins. And the Slovakia & Israel games maybe demonstrate that, yeah, we're better (could we be any worse than we have been over two decades) but still a long way to go.

I agree, he may be a dour pussed kunt but players genuinely seem happy with his style of management, Killie were very much a unit under him and now the national squad seem to have bonded very well too. Think some of it might be down to the team having more ‘real’ games, but whatever it is it’s much improved imo.
