Can't wait to see Queen Nicola in the Royal Box at Hampden geeing everyone a wee wave
Ah Slovakia, another small, independent country who were able to close their borders and introduce a short, sharp lockdown to deal with the virus. Seems a lot of their deaths were from people returning home from the UK. Figures. Too bad Scotland had to wait on bozo the loafer finalising his divorce/book rather than being proactive.
Sweden just won't go quietly.
Figures already include the 1st week in November and since this year less people are dying in Sweden I'd expect that to continue in November and December.
Imagine how many less deaths we cud have had now and in the future here if there wasn't two lockdowns and restrictions in place for almost a year.
So sad but the mistakes continue.
Still at least our economy is strong....oh ****......well at least we have a world class health service...oh ****......well at least we have a free press.....super injunctions aside😉
Ach well the weather's good.
Sorry, don't get this obsession with Sweden due to the size of population v size of country difference that makes it very difficult to compare countries. I'm no fan of the way the UK or indeed Scotland have dealt with the crisis but we are largely in line (deaths per 100k of population) with other similar sized countries. On this criteria the UK at 75 is similar to the US at 73 only a little worse than France at 65 but a hell of a lot better than some eg Belgium 121. Sweden's comparisons have to be with similar sized countries not too far away. Sweden at 61.4 is nearly at France's level compared with Denmark 13, Finland 6 and Norway 5. There is a major split in Sweden both in the scientific community and the public as to whether the government have got it right or wrong. They are ramping up their restrictions and in many folks eyes heading for lockdown. There is ever growing unrest in the population who rightly compare with their neighbours and the government is increasingly unpopular for not doing more during the early days and even more recently until their very recent change of tack. Our comparisons in the UK have to be France, Spain, Italy & Germany etc. Compare us with Germany and criticism is definitely warranted. But Sweden No!
And Sweden's comparison shouldn't be with anything but Sweden.
No lockdown = no increased deaths.
I can't honestly make it any more simple.
