Interesting article on Finland, another neighbour of Sweden, went into full lockdown early for 2 months.

    https://www.dw.com/en/coronavirus-fi...del/a-55664117

374 deaths and economy performing better than Sweden, who had, let's remind ourselves, 8000 deaths.

But the nutters out there still hold up Sweden's deaths/herd immunity programme as exemplar.

Johnathan Barr gives a very fair account of where Sweden is at on lockdownsceptics.org

All pretty much good news for the Swedes.

    Sweden - 11000 deaths
    Norway - 550
    Finland - 644

People so far down the rabbithole of right-wing libertarianism, they'll look at the numbers above and say "Well done, Sweden"

I'd encourage anyone to read it.

Excellent piece nice and fair and gives a bit of insight into how Swedes feel.

    There's a turnip for the books.😂

Why are the Norwegian and Finnish figures so low? They have 42334 cases and 644 deaths. Our figures are 171k and 5704 deaths. If we had Finland death rate we would have 2601 deaths. Why is there such a difference? Are we just unfit and unhealthy compared with the Finns or is there something else as the answer?

I suspect Finland might only be counting proper positive tests and genuine Covid deaths rather than counting PCR positives?

It is interesting to look at the references you have given Ross. Sweden does seem to be close to the results that we are achieving. When you look at their regulations many of them seem to be close to what we have, but without the "lockdown" branding.

If this is the case why are our s insists not trying to explain the difference?

Our scientists won't highlight the difference because they've made errors from day one and, like politicians, would rather fit the data at hand, as they choose to present it, to suit their conclusions than admit to being wrong. If they hadn't made the initial error, i.e. if their doom and gloom predictions had been correct, we'd be on approaching half a million UK deaths and not the current 97,300 or so, many of which hide the usual expected deaths in that period.

Let's be honest they're not even giving us the most relevant figures and are happy to perpetuate the fearmongering that's pervaded since the first case.
