One can argue about censorship and the like, but there are any number of songs from the 60's and 70's whose lyrics are perhaps not appropriate to changing attitudes and societal norms that exist today. I have a number in my collection by various artists that whilst I don't have an issue with them, if I was responsible for content on a national radio show, I wouldn't play them.

Indeed artists such as Rod Stewart have said that they have dropped some songs from their live gigs because the artist themselves considers them inappropriate for today.

Does that affect you or me negatively? No you and I can still play those songs if we wish. Much ado about **** all in my view.

By choice I listen to R2 R4 and Planet Rock, but the lads I work with are R1 and R1X fellahs,which I'm more than happy to listen to and could hold my own on such rackets in any given pop quiz.

Regarding music censorship, its not a laughing matter, I think I've detailed before my old covers band's encounters with censorship from a couple of overzealous virtue signallers (both ignored/ridiculed) so I won't repeat, but it IS an issue.

Music is a matter of taste, I listen to what I want to how i want to, my taste is my choice, not a badge of being cool or whatever. The fact that you listen to a radio station that caters for the younger age group comes as no surprise to me, given your intellectual age is demonstrably not that well developed.


Music censorship is no laughing matter? Well I don't recall saying it was, just that its no big deal, as the choice of music media is so wide that if you don't like what radio 1 does, you listen to something else.
