Let's call it what it is.

Whoever decided that Sam should be allowed to walk out the door, rather than giving him a contract sufficient to persuade him to stay, has royally f*cked up. And plenty of people were pointing that out in the summer when it happened, so it's not just a case of saying that with hindsight. We've just had to loan Walker from Salford when we had a better and improving player already under our noses.

What we should have done in retrospect was loan him out to someone like Leamington last season. Players need games to improve, not being stuck on the bench or not even making the squad.

He will definitely not spend his career playing at the level he’s at now if he continues to get game time and also improves the defensive side of his game. Pleased for him.

I love how people are getting excited about an ex player dropping down a couple of levels and shining. Don’t forget in our past we signed players on the back of being successful at lower levels. How did they all work out?

The truth is he was hit and miss last season at best. He knew himself he was behind Roberts and Enzio, not sure if Rodriguez had come by then but he would have seen that as a battle and just wanted a fresh start, no loans and it was the right decision for him. he’s probably becoming a better player than if he stayed.

    He only dropped one level.

Are we going to get updates on Sam Osborne every week?

If he's doing great at Leamington I'm pleased for him it's what his career needed, regular football.

Sam Osborne is not better than Walker that's a ridiculous statement. Osborne is improving though for sure.

Osborne left because he knows Ardley doesn’t give younger players a fair go.

Imagine being a young player at Notts and seeing hasbeens and neverweres playing week in week out while you’re picking splinters out of your arse. That’s if you’re in the squad at all.

    I’d leave as well.

If he wanted guaranteed first team football he was best to move on. Looks like dropping down a division has been right decision for the lad.

He signed 2 young centre backs and a keeper in our relegation season and put them all straight in. Just cos you’re young and from Notts doesn’t give you the right to have more game time. Probably similar to Grant at forest in Forest fans eyes, looked a world beater for us for while and then he went off the boil and then found his level below them. It’s quite a drop in level below the NL with the majority being part time.
