    Ronaldo (fenomeno)

At this peak before the two very bad back to back knee injuries at Inter that kept him out for a couple years, particularly at Barca in the kid nineties is the best I've seen, just awe inspiring to watch such a fast strong skillful technical beast in full flow, when you are known as the phenomenon in Brazil, that says a lot

So those saying CR for me peak for peak isn't even the best of that name as good and consistent as he is

Seen him live for Real Madrid scoring a hat-trick at Old Trafford, phenomenal.

3 reasons why Messi is not in the same league as Maradona

Messi hasn't made anywhere the near the same impact as Maradona on the international stage. Maradona won World Cups for Argentina.
Messi has spent his whole career at one of the world's richest clubs. Maradona took, at the time, a provincial club to the Italian title a much harder task.
Messi plays in an era when players are far more protected on and off the field. Maradona had to take a battering from defenders to ply his trade.

That was him after the knee injuries too with extra lbs on, proper serious knee injuries too, inter got him back too soon from the first injury and the knee went his first game back, he was in agony pounding the turf against lazio, still won the 2002 World Cup for Brazil and as you have showed starred for the galacticos and that was him nothing like his pre injury self when he was just unreal, that pace, power, dribbling and skill combination with goals, never seen anything like it

Think he had a thyroid issue in the end which kept the weight on as the years progressed

To think that pele once described Jimmy Johnstone one of 5 best players in the world at the time ( late sixties?) along with the likes of Puscas. Like George Best, just a pity they never REALLY got on the world stage.

I’d have Maradona first by miles. Agree about the part of Maradona being booted all over the place(Battle of Bilbao?) to be fair to Messi he usually just gets on with it after being booted. A few others could be put in there too, Platini, Beckenbauer and Bobby Glennie.
