Manchester City v Burnley Match Preview

We don’t usually need to have much of a discussion about this fixture except to decide if we are going to lose 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 or 6-0. City did not apparently have to overly exert themselves in beating Olympiakos. We could have done with them having a much harder work out. We picked up a decent win against Crystal Palace but Manchester City are a different proposition even though Pep thinks they are very badly done by in not being allowed to play 5 substitutes. When you have Sterling, Aguerro, Jesus, Silva and Foden you don’t really need that many subs. I would think Robbie Brady and JBG will be out. It would be a boost to have Erik Pieters fit again. Jay Rod should definitely start alongside Wood. COYC!

I hope we go there with the attitude to hold out for a goalless draw.

Defend. Defend. Defend. Defend. Defend. Defend. Defend.

Another 6 goal rout we do not need.

    What about Cook?

    Has he left the club?

Do you mean Cork blueheeler1? He's almost ready to play again after a long recovery from injury.

He is out of contract in June, but no word yet of an offer to try to keep him.

Some things you can guarantee ----firstly, City will be awarded another dodgy penalty because some unfortunate Claret will be deemed to have stood on someone's foot, even though the original player was offside and the ball went out of play in one case or the fact that nobody from either side thought there was anything wrong etc., etc. ad nauseam.
Of course you have to remember that VAR would sort out the decisions going against the smaller clubs -----how miguided can fans be?

Not even contentious is this post Supersub6. I read last week Manchester United have been awarded 23 VAR related penalties, Burnley 2.

One of them only because Bournemouth had scored from the handball in their box!

Thats because they get players into the opposition area, which you have to do to be able to gain a penalty.Funnily enough Burnley don't seem to be able to do that.

alf --that was our penalty which was awarded after Bournemouth had handled in their area, gone down field and scored. VAR intervened and we got the penalty which should have been given ages before. The Assistant Referee was only 15 yards away from it!
Jay was not awarded a penalty at home against Brighton in the last game of the season and has also been denied once more this season. Two hands in the back and he went down but not deemed enough for a penalty, we certainly don't scream enough ---they would probably get a *******ing from Sean if they did!

"I would think Robbie Brady and JBG will be out."

I don't this news qualifies as a major surprise does it. Nothing against either of them, they don't get injured on purpose, but it's supposed to be a cash-strapped business we are running, looking to economise where possible, so why do we keep paying these two good money to lie on treatment tables for week after week, month after month, and it's now getting to the stage of year after year.
