Thread: Next up - St Johnstone in the League Cup

Sadly it seems as if the club have managed to shake that out of him over the last few years.
He was also being absolutely panned for that style of play which everyone acknowledged would be tolerated until the second it stopped working and not a moment longer. As soon as we hit the skids he was under huge pressure despite previous 'success' and had no choice but to change it.

It might be coincidence our record against the OF tanked since we moved from on from being Fight Club on a football pitch but I doubt it. That doesn't explain the cups though where even if you are generous on a couple of losses the overall record is now pretty inexcusable.

What frustrates most is that we managed to sneak into the lead but were unable to hold on for all of seven minutes. Mid table mediocrity for us at best.

Mid-table mediocrity, even in the lower half, plus some fun in the cups equals a good season though which is why throwing this away is particularly annoying. Livi, Dunfermline, Alloa all in the quarters plus St Mirren are currently beating Aberdeen. The OF will win it but a wee jaunt to Hampden for a semi would have livened up a dull year.

You can cope with a few players who contribute net zero but not only do we have too many of them, Lamie basically boots the ball into his own net at least once a game...if McGinley is unavailable we almost need to change the system to avoid playing him. He's not the only one who is poor ofc but he's the definition of 'worse than a man short' at the minute.

When Gallagher played alongside Lamie and Mugabe earlier in the season our defence and him looked awful. Both Mugabe and Lamie dropped out the team for various reasons, Gallagher plays alongside O’hara and McGinley and he begins to look like the footballer we believe he is. The defence looks 100% more solid. We bring dumb and dumber back in we giveaway needless penalties and really soft goals. If I and other fans can see this why can’t Robinson. Time these two were left in the stand

Didn't watch it today thankfully. Does Robbo not know the definition of madness is 'play Lamie, he sells the jerseys, then do the same thing repeatedly but expect a better outcome'!

    Total 5hite that guy is.

And just to make matters even worse, both Hearts and Aberdeen are also now out. All we need now is for one or both of the Old Firm to lose tomorrow and this will be yet another massive Cup opportunity passed up for us.

And add Celtic to that list of big names now out of the Cup. We've missed out on a big, big opportunity here and not for the first time.

We'd have had Dunfermline at home if my understanding of the numbers is right, though that's far from certain.

    Actual draw if you're bothered:
    St Mirren v Rangers
    Alloa Athletic v Hibernian
    Livingston v Ross County
    Dunfermline Athletic v St Johnstone

If we'd been in the draw it would have been new Rangers at Ibrox.
