    Best formation 3-4-3 ??

Thinking of players we have now we have 3 great forwards and have tended to play 3 centre halves.

3-4-3 has worked for Scotland in past

    Could set up

    Benji in goals

3 centre halves as per usual or putting in Neilson or Liam smith as right centre back.

Wing backs could have Smith / Bolton and Robson / Sporle on other side

Centre mid Fuchs and Butcher or Harkes

Up front have the 3 - Clark, Shanks in the centre and McNulty

Likes of Mcmullan or chalmers can come on as either side of the front 3

Nope. Four at the back. Nothing else. Our performances are turgid with three centre halves. You need football playing centre halves if you're gonna play three at the back, not hoofball specialists, and we don't have that. Scotland aren't all that good playing three at the back without McTominay for that reason.

This is very true, players are getting a game who should be on the bench and attacking options sit on the sidelines laughing at some trying to play football.
Did anyone notice LOA and others pyshing themselves at Connolly last Saturday?.Its probably the only time this season i have seen a smile on Shankland's face.
Three at the back is fine if you have a player like Narey,Petric or even Souttar playing in there who can play out and link with the rest of the team.

It works for Scotland. Also means can play our 3 forward.

What to see shanks, McNulty and Clark playing together. Could be lethal combination once they all get up to speed playing together

It might be a case of it ain't broke don't fix it but hopefully only for the short term. We could change formation and get our 4rses felt in the upcoming games then we'd be asking why change it?

It's obviously not great on the eye but it's working......just now.

Only because McTominay can play out from the back, you can still see them 3 up front with a 4-3-3.

Not for me LS, I yearn to see four hard as phukk solid defenders who take no sh*t and six lads who can play fitba with passion and flair right in front of them, that for me would be enough and if I win the euromillions the morns night that is exactly what we’ll have

It works for Scotland because they have a ball playing centre half in McTominay. Did you not see the Slovakia game when he wasn't playing? They were awful. The three centre halves passed the ball from side to side then hoofed it up the park, similar to what we do every Saturday.

And you can still play three up front with four centre halves. We did it on Saturday after we went 0-1 down and surprise surprise, scored two goals.

I was all for getting shot of MM after the Peterhead debacle - I accept that that was knee jerk. However in my defence that was on the back of the humiliation at home to Livingston and soon after the back to back scuddings off Killie and The Rangers. After Peterhead, I genuinely thought we were descending into an inexorable slide to the bottom. That game was one of the worst I’ve seen - and that’s with bearing in mind we’ve been treated to some total shockers the last few years.

Credit to him, but MM has made us much tougher to beat since. It may not be pretty but it IS effective. We must not forget where we were at the start of the season - Championship Squad, Bride Of Chucky, Covid, nae crowds, nae money and to a man we all accepted that finishing tenth would be the primary aim. NOTHING has changed in my book and this season of all seasons, I really don’t care how we do it but just get us to 40 points and then build from there next season. Following that horrendous run MM, for now, seems to have stabilised the ship.

Yes. He's basically doing what Levein did when he took charge. Made us hard to beat with what he had at his disposal then went on from there.
