Brilliant day, met up in Jack Daniels and got the second train down, arrived late and got into Old Trafford about 20 minutes after kick off. Outside the ground. Police woman was on a horse which was frothing at the mouth, I pointed this out to her and her reply? “You’d be frothing at the mouth too if I was sitting on you” brilliant memories following our great club

Brilliant day. Down on train. How many Arabs.. 5000?... Could have won game with late chances.... Locked in afterwards.. Felt like we'd won a trophy with singing/atmosphere. All my mates down on bus/train/automobile etc but best of all on way out bumped into my elderly auntie who had jumped on a bus and followed her team.

traveled by train, think we were taken to the old Trafford cricket ground station. Police escort straight to the game (first time I had seen horses with lights) I vaguely remember the train stopped near motherwell on the way home, with no explanation from the police. Saint and Greavsie done a great report for United on their show.

On sick leave at the time and decided that a low profile was required as i was deemed unfit to travel from Dundee to Edinburgh where i was stationed. All went well until Luggy equalised and i made the TV highlights climbing the fence to celebrate.

When i returned to barracks a week later a private soldier on guard duty(i had never met him before)said,"Arite mate eh seen you on the telly last week."

Me too. Jack's opened early if I remember an by 10:30 the place was rocking - with arabs up on tables and flags out etc.

I remember that police were searching fans outside the train station and confiscating booze. I met some ingenious arabs that had injected oranges with vodka. Where there's a will there is a way!

We totally outsang the Man Utd that night. I think their pusses were well and truly shut by the fact that the chanting of 'United' that was ringing around the stadium was coming from the 5000 tangerine clad Shedboys fae the City of Dundee.

Yeah, great night. Locked in after the match then escorted to the station. Unfortunately for us , we had traveled by car and parked up a cul-de-sac which we were marched promptly past. We shouted at the polis, "we're no on the train, oor cars up there" to which one replied "orders are orders, you are all going to the station"

We had to wait till the crowds dispersed and sneak back towards Old Trafford hopefully unnoticed. Then when we got to the car we got pelters from locals for parking in their "residential area"

What a night. Drove up from Leicester with a Leicester fan. He says how many will you lose by then? I said to him you don't know much about this Dundee United team do you?

Luckily the rain stayed off but the pitch was shocking. United were magnificent. Could have folded but never say die.

The Leicester fan couldn't believe how good we were and was amazed at our big passionate support.

Got back to Leicester and managed a lock in at the local. A pity we never got the rub of the green in the second leg though.
Was at that too. Unlucky og didn't help.
But I think it was that Manchester game that made the English sit up and realise we had a top side.

Shows you the arrogance of the English media. You are correct but why on earth should it have needed the game in Manchester in the first place? Surely the fact we’d nearly got to the phucking European Cup Final just six months previously was enough to alert them that we were a top side.
