    Short corners.

I have to say that I'm not a fan of this tactic. It's OK now and then but I feel that many clubs, including us, use it too often. In our case, we have a fairly big side and should use this to more of an advantage. Mind you, I think that Pereira's delivery hasn't been up to standard this season. Another fact is that by taking a short corner, on many occasions a side ends up in the same position, so why not cross it in the first place. Also, yesterday we played a short corner with Pereira ending up offside. So what do we do? We do the same thing again ending with the same result. When we did put it into the area with a good cross, Bartley nearly scored. Others may disagree but this is my opinion.

I do agree with you Leics but my only concern is when the we are playing some teams and they play all of their corners into our box.

I have raised it before but over the last few seasons we have reduced the physicality of the side for better footballers but the downside is we are nowhere near as good at defending corners or in scoring goals from our own corners.

The likes of Pereira, Krov, Diangana, Robinson etc are all on the shorter side and when we play the likes of Burnley, Sheff U sides we need to get points against our threat from corners has been greatly reduced.

I agree with your comments Yarm but Ajae, Bartley and Ivanovic do have a presence and it's a waste of their time going up for corners and the ball not arriving.

The more times the ball is in the opposition box the law of averages means there will be an increase in goal chances be it a straight forward header or a scramble in the goalmouth. Get the ball into the box as often as you can, and a corner gives you an unopposed opportunity to get it into the box. A short corner gives the opposition a chance to prevent the ball getting into the danger area. Seems pretty obvious to me but what do I know in the scheme of things.

Absolutely. The short corner fiascos last night were very basic errors.
