    Radio Luxembourg.

I remember back in the 70’s and very early 80’s listening to the station late at night when TV and radio in the U.K. had shut down for the night.

In particular Stuart and Ollie Henry who presented the show together due to him suffering from MS and having speech issues.

I can hear his voice now, it was so unique and I can feel the warmth of the bed on those cold winters nights at my nan’s house as she didn’t have central heating.

The radio, a torch, a bed with about 7-8 covers on it to try and stay warm.........kids today are really missing out on some evocative stuff.

I’ve just read with sadness that Ollie has recently died 25 years after Stuart.

Great memories for me and a great radio station.

The problem mick with Radio Luxemburg was the reception. It would often fade and you'd miss half of the record. However, like you, our generation have many happy memories of the station as in those early days it was the only way that we could listen to the current music of the time.

Used to listen to Luxemburg and Caroline on a Crystal set with a set of headphones that resembled something a rear gunner on a Lancaster would use. A lovely time compared to today even with all the great technology we have those days seem special to me.

Top twenty every Sunday night was must liten to. My Dad even rigged up a speaker extension into my bedroom so that I could listen to it in bed

AND....who remembers the Crystal Set ? I had one...well it belonged to my older brother. (1950s)

PS a crystal set, is a simple radio receiver, popular in the early days of radio. It uses only the power of the received radio signal to produce sound, needing no external power. (Copied from tinternet)

I remember being on a school field trip and a few of us were listening to Radio Luxembourg one evening when it was announced Elvis had died. I remember we thought as very young kids that at least he'd had a good innings.
