When I first heard it I thought no no what are you doing Chris couldn't believe he was delving into the yearly cheesy Christmas songs...Fast forward a couple of years later and after a month working in Aberdeen I was driving home for Christmas to Nottingham, the song came on the radio and I thought yes I get it, thanks Chris...

We may not have the same taste in managers, but we do in songs!

Wizzard is my favourite of the Christmas songs from the charts.

I also like Boney M's 'Mary's Boy Child'.

It was a good song, probably not given the full recognition it deserves because it came from a 'boy band', but it was well written.

For your boy band I'll raise you a girl band, Girl's Aloud, for whom 'Sound of the Underground' was number one in 2002. Not really a Christmassy song to be fair, but another well written pop song which certainly kicked their career off in the right direction.

'Don't You Want Me' by the Human League also sticks in my mind, even though I was a wee nipper at the time.

I was probably sick of hearing it by the end of the 1970s but yes, Slade's was the best.
The first xmas no.1 I can remember was the previous year (1972) and that was probably the worst record of all time, never mind worst xmas no.1.

if only you had said you liked the Floyd as well I would have forgiven you for your Ardley sins !
PS I like the Boney M one. but its a guilty secret , a bit like the Ma Baker and Rasputin ones as well !
