When Dyche was asked ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie against MK Dons about his expectations in terms of bringing players in this month, he said: "Nothing has changed from my words from before the window and before the takeover – that January is a very tough window.

We’re into Day 6 of the January transfer window but not one Premier League team have announced a new signing.

Our recruitment team don't usually report back from their Christmas break until January 24th, so nothing can happen yet. And this is not to criticise the recruitment lads, the club simply will not sign players in the first thee weeks of January, so they may as well have an extended jolly.

According to the Daily Mail, Sheffield United have Burnley midfielder Jack Cork on their shopping list in January as Chris Wilder bids to steer his side clear of relegation.
