    Jan Window

6 points over Xmas, pretty good return, but surely clear now, where we need to reinforce.
As been said by many, LB, CM, and Striker.
Think the CB position, just about manageable, with players to return.
Subs bench today, no real replacement / competition for Phillips, no Roberts, ( not available ? ) would have been good to see Gelhardt / Greenwood on bench.

Think the two key areas for me are striker and CM. CB we have players to come back and options. LB Alioski, Dallas and Davies (though a new top drawer LB would be nice).

A striker who is more clinical and a midfielder who can cover KP if needed but play more advanced too would be a nice start to the new year.

Centre mid to cover KP as mentioned before. Rodrigo could cover PB up front. Already have cover at LB and returning players at CD. More quality needed but needs to be right player.

Not wishing to be overly pessimistic, but any investment during the window would have to be on the basis that Bielsa is prepared to enter into some degree of squad rotation, which he hasn't shown much appetite for to date (in the PL or Championship days). If that's not part of the plan, all we will end up with is a bunch of reserve players getting no 1st team time until injuries/suspensions force Bielsas hand (as has been the case with Meslier some time ago and Struijk more recently), never an ideal time to introduce "new" players into what is otherwise a settled 1st 11.

One of the tabloids yesterday was reporting a possible swoop for Rodrigo by Ath Madrid.
Probably a made up story but any truth I personally would get rid, well over priced and goes missing most of the time.
Morata at Chelsea found this league tough Werner is saying the same, I honestly think this league is not for Rodrigo.

Not pessimistic. Realistic. You are right he does not rotate lineup much. Hope we stand pat. A swap for Rodrigo could benefit us but cant see it happening. Too expensive for many teams. Wish he would give some of the U23s a chance up front

Think Rodrigo has been good for us - hard when those behind you not settled due to injury and Klich off form.

Agree that no point signing anyone if they won’t play. Much as I think Bamford has improved he is not clinical enough and when he has off days scoring wise such as against spuds it costs us dear - he had two great chances first half that someone like Vardy, Giroud, Kane or Salah would bury.

Watching the Chelsea v City game and the first touches and accuracy of pace across both teams is very good. If you could give Bielsa players of that quality to work with I suspect we would be pretty formidable.

Kid in Holland looks like a beast in midfield - Gravenbirch - someone like him would be awesome.

On the U23 watched most of those games and Roberts looks fat and away the most accomplished striker at the level which means JG and SG may struggle. The other like Kamwa look too raw.

Surprised some of the midfielders and defenders haven’t seen first time minutes. Drameh looks incredibly good as does Jack Jenkins. The odd five to ten minutes would do them good in terms of progression.

Agree with HO. Some of these players need time to settle, if you had offered me 10 points off top and 12 off relegation at this point when season started I'd have bit your fingers off.

Question is, who is going to be manager next season? Is Bielsa staying and if it is a new manager what style of football are we going to play?

Do we save the money for a new manager who will have a different approach to games or go with what we have.

Think the point about if MB stays or not is huge - if he wants to stay another season great and give him the funds if not who knows.

I see silly season is well and truly underway and we are being linked with anyone who can kick a ball pretty much
