    My playing days long gone

But those boots that the players wear ...are they really the best for our crispy frosty pitches.

When you saw the sole of McGhees boot when he went down injured there seems to be very little grip on them.

Sure there must be a science behind it that makes people believe it's best......does the guy Whitty own a boot manufacturer....I wonder.🤔

My grandson, who is in the academy , has an array of boots.
Most are theses sock boots, which are a struggle to get on and off, and not much ankle support.
Now you have boots for Astro turf, boots for soft ground, boots for firm ground etc, I remember I had one pair and you just changed the studs to suit the condtitions.
Also very few wear black boots now, all the colours of the day, although I remember Stevie Murray caused a sensation when he
Wore white boots at Dens in the sixties !

Remember the days when we had boots that were like training shoes with big suckers in them for hard ground (like sambas), Absolutely useless but better than screw-ins.That was in the days when football was played on frosty pitches.
