With Fuchs, Butcher,Edwards, McNulty, Pawlett all either unavailable or doubtful perhaps we weren’t in a great hurry to have the match played today.........................

Either way, the game's off and it's because A the system is no longer fit for purpose or B it wasn't used correctly. It could be C something else, but I'll wager it's one of the first two and if it is, then the system should be ripped up and replaced and/or the users should be shown how to use it and the owners should ensure the costs can be covered.
Not really mate. Undersoil heating is installed roughly 10-12 inches under the surface. End of season renovations you're only lifting the top 2 inches or so of turf. I don't know how they go about inspecting the system if I'm being honest. I do know a full replacement would be upwards of £250,000. Like I said, if a section has failed, then its more than likely going to go unnoticed until you first turn the system on which would've been last night. Given that this has happened twice in the last few years, I'd go with answer A.

Yeah, memories of the last failure points to A.

This, sadly, is one of the basics that we should have fixed quick smart.

Surely given the weather we've had the system would have had to be turned on way before last night.

You'd think so, but there's a photo floating about from Sporles Instagram yesterday that shows the pitch pure white.

It's a costly exercise unfortunately, but one that would surely have to be looked at if the system keeps failing. We're just fortunate of the situation we're in and there wasn't the lost revenue that came with a Saturday 3pm Tayside Derby.

With the temperatures we have had it would need to have been switched on at least three days ago we had this same problem with lower temps back in 2010.

Heard about that mate which suggests they did not have the undersoil heating on for long enough.
